Making the decision to cut individuals out of your life can be a difficult process, but it is necessary due to the toxicity they are spreading and the impact they are having on your mental health and emotional state. Let’s look at the characteristics of toxic people and decide whether it is necessary to remove them from our lives or whether we can do something else to improve the situation.
There are so many people in our lives who we despise and admire at the same time. We all have a love-hate connection with our families, our coworkers, and our bosses, to put it bluntly. We can’t just up and leave them out of our lives like that. It is OK to keep distant contact with those with whom you do not get along.. You can still communicate with each other. It is not required to cut all of the cords at the same time. Simply re-evaluate the foundation of your connections. Getting rid of people from your life with whom you do not get along is both an easy and a difficult undertaking. Whatever your level of attachment to them and the extent to which you love them, consider living a more balanced life so that you don’t have to take this drastic step in the first place. Examine the circumstances before making the decision to cut the cord.
There is a distinct difference between a poisonous and a tough person to deal with. Don’t get them mixed up with one another.
If there are people in your life that are upsetting you, you can just talk things out with them rather than removing them from your life. It is a more developed method of operation. Even if it is not assured that it will cure the problem, you should give it a shot nevertheless. If the adult dialogue strategy fails to produce results, you can just separate yourself from the situation and restrict the interaction to a bare bare minimum. If you are dealing with tough people, you do not have to eliminate them from your life totally.
We all have toxic people in our lives, and it’s impossible to avoid them. We have all been in toxic situations at some point in our lives, but once we make the decision to deal with it, things might get a little twisted. There are certain persons who are extremely intelligent and cunning. When they get a scent of the possibility that something might have been different, they immediately alter their behavior.
But maintain your composure and know that it could be a seductive trick. It is stated that whenever a victim attempts to separate herself or himself from the abuser, the abuser alters their behavior, and they immediately revert to their previous behavior as soon as the distance is closed again. History has a tendency to repeat itself. Some individuals do it on purpose, and some people do it because it’s in their nature to do so.
The following are some of the characteristics of poisonous people:
People who are toxic are takers. Having a relationship with these types of people is a one-sided affair. A successful relationship is built on mutual giving and taking, but these people merely take what they can get away with, with little consideration for your well-being in the process.
People that are toxic seldom acknowledge their mistakes. They are continually playing the victim card and blaming others for their actions. They never accept responsibility for their actions.
Toxic people are constantly attempting to exert control over others because they are unable to exert control over their own life. These people have a bad habit of telling other people what they should and should not do. A healthy person never exerts control over others, and they allow those around them to take full responsibility for their own life.
People that are toxic have a habit of making others feel inferior. These individuals have the practice of pointing out the flaws and shortcomings of others, which makes them feel or appear better about themselves.
Always keep in mind that it is always your choice whether or not to believe in them at any given time. Allow yourself some breathing room to assess the situation. If you don’t notice any positive improvements in their behavior, it’s time to let go and move on from the situation.
